I heard there was a German monoplane design during the First World War. This was the Junkers J1 and Junkers D1 models and I have read that they were being experimented on during the war. My question is why didn't Germany continue the planes' development?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
I was reading about the tanks in the Palestine Front where I found out that of the 8 tanks only 2 reached their objectives. How true is this? I also read that tanks in the desert where a bit faster since there was no muds as a challenge and in this case where the tank tactics in the desert different than those at the Western Front or were they the same?Answered 1 year ago. Hey Indy and crew, I have a small question for the Out Of The Trenches: What was the immediate reaction of the German troops when they saw the tanks coming their way towards them? Were they expecting it? Or perhaps they had a way to counter the tanks in the mean time? Cheers love the show!Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
Having come across a few articles about Allied in German possession, I often wonder if the German Empire trained 'units' to disable Allied tanks rather than destroy, or did the German Army field 'tanks-hunter' units or even squads late in the war?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
To what scale was tank warfare used on the other fronts, Russia, Middle East and so on. When people say WW1 tanks, they just think of the Western Front and the iconic images. And attached to that, the Entente was the first to use tanks, but what was their reaction to the first deployed Germand tanks?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
Hi Indy - a huge fan of the show. Love your work and hope to enjoy the rest of your episodes until 2018. My question is on the other sister ship of the Titanic - the RMS Olympic. What was its role in WW1 if it had one at all - was it a troop transport ship or was it used as a hospital boat (similar to the Britannic)?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
Hello from Atlanta Indy and crew, I know that the Germans have been known to caputer allied tanks and use them for their own purposes. My question is, what upgrades did they commonly make to the tanks so that they'd be more effective for the Germans?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
Hello Indy, great show. I was wondering how much of a direct threat planes and airships posed to the troops on the ground. I mean direct - aside from serving as spotters for the artillery. Was strafing or bombing the ground troops a regular occurrence or was it still more of an experimental form of combat that was not practiced often?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
Hi Indy, I have some questions about the great war and about certain things, but one of my questions is: How did hospital ships like the HMHS Britannic worked, how were they used on battles or in some battles near coast, did they help? I want to know more about these kind of ships.Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
WW1 pilots that went to combat in formations, after the combat ended, how didi they find their lead and the way back home? I mean, they didnt have any radio or GPS back then. Perhaps a map and a compass?Answered 1 year ago. Question posted by Anonymous.
